Codsall dramatic society

A local amateur theatre company bringing live drama to the community.
New members always welcome.

Productions
We put on two main plays each year (Spring and Autumn) and in November/December we have our ever popular village Children’s Play. From time to time we also put on studio theatre evenings or other one-off shows. We have a long running partnership with Codsall Community Arts Festival, of which our spring play forms an integral part of in alternating years.

Membership
Why not join us and learn new skills, gain self-confidence and make a lot of new friends!

The membership of CDS is one large family with many partnerships and friendships amongst its members. In addition to our common interests in theatre and the arts, we do like a good party! We hold events for members throughout the year, including, BBQs, quizzes, theatre trips and more.

New actors and directors are always welcome and not just actors or directors; remember there's a lot more to producing a play than just what you see performed on stage. So if you want to be making costumes or building scenery for one production and designing a poster for another we are the group for you. You will be given on-the-job tuition and training if you need it, so you won't be thrown in at the deep end. No previous experience is necessary.

On 11th April 1955 Ruth Ellis shot and murdered her lover David Blakely and after being found guilty was the last woman to be hanged in Britain. Why was Ruth so quick to admit her guilt without offering a defence and who supplied her with the gun? Amanda Whittington’s play cleverly looks at the facts while also exploring Ruth’s life and the lives of the women around her, who share Ruth’s dreams of wealth, status, stardom, and security.

Join Codsall Dramatic Society as we once again explore a play with deep societal implications and ask questions that will have you thinking and talking for days. We are proud to once again be presenting this play in association with Codsall Community Arts Festival.
